Located 50 KM to the
North of Almora, KAUSANI the Birthplace of Hindi poet
Sumitra Nandan Pant, is another picturesave hill station
famous for its Scenic Splendour and its Spectacular 300 KM
wide view of the Himalayas. Situated at 6075 ft. above sea
level. A top narrow ridge from KAUSANI we see the Himalayan
peaks - TRISHUL NANDA DEVI, NANDA DEVI EAST, NANDA KOT
PANCHCHULI, and two peaks of nepal Himalay (API & NAMJUNG)
The view of the snow covered peaks is so clear that one gets
a feeling of the snow being within touching distance which
covers the paranomic view of 180 dg.
In 1929, Mahatma Gandhi who had come for a day, stayed here
at the "ANASAKTI ASHRAM" for 12 days and was greatly
impressed by it's environs. He wrote the we have places like
this than why people go to Switzerland. It is thickly
forested and seperated from the soaring Nand devi Ranges by
low mountains.
KAUSANI is internationally famous for its Scenic Sunrise and
Sunset on the Himalayan peaks. All these things have
